Leadership Team
The Bowie Church is currently led by four men who are dedicated to serving our Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. They meet prayerfully on a weekly basis to discuss the work of the Church and pattern their leadership style after the instructions in 1 Peter 5:2-3 ~
“Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.”
Charles (Chuck) Wilson has been serving the Lord at the Bowie church since 1965. Through the years, he has served the church as an elder, a deacon, and in the singing ministry. In addition to his role on the leadership team, Chuck leads a small group, monthly worship at a local assisted living facility, and is a member of a group of Bowie ministers called “Turn on the Light, Bowie.” Chuck has been married to his wife, Mary Ann, since 1964 and they have been blessed with three children and eight grandchildren.
Jeff Matteson serves as the Bowie Church’s full-time minister. He has the passionate heart of an evangelist. He received his bachelor’s degree in Christian studies from Austin Graduate School of Theology and is studying for his Masters of Divinity at Abilene Christian University. Jeff brings a deep and varied experience to his work in Bowie — having had the privilege of serving as an evangelist and missionary in Siberia, Russia; Kalispell, Montana; and Luling, Texas. Jeff has been married to his wife, Jill, since 1983. They have been blessed with four children and three grandchildren.
